He further told the media that their alternative ideas were all ignored and the budget was not going to benefit the common people. Thus termed the whole process as a mere ritual of which they can’t be part of.

The leader of the opposition also took a swipe at the speaker of parliament for proposing to take the parliament and its members in different regions of the country to conduct sittings.

According to Honorable Joel Ssenyonyi, this would be a total waste of the taxpayer’s money.  It is better to deliver services because they directly benefit the people instead of carrying the whole parliament and staff to the regions to conduct sittings.

Also, what the people of Uganda want is for Parliament to discuss matters of critical concern to them, and this can and should be done in our chambers without spending billions to take the whole Parliament to different regions and cities, ” Honorable Joel Ssenyonyi said.
Honorable Joel Ssenyonyi was selected by the leading Opposition political party the National Unity Platform to replace the embattled former Leader of Opposition, now Commissioner of Parliament, Honorable Mathius Mpuuga who served for only one term before falling out with the party.
His close friendship with the party president Honorable Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu and his hard work have helped him rise fast to the top of the party leadership structure given his background.
