Actor Olu Jacobs Is Alive – Joke Silva debunks husband’s death reports

Sunday 30th of June social media was sent in shock when waves of reports circulated claiming that Nollywood veteran actor and film executive Olu Jacobs, real name Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, had breathed his last.

His wife, a veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva, rushed to disregard the reports when she took to her Instagram account to refute the reports. She said that her husband was “alive and doing well” despite a prolonged battle with dementia.

This is not the first time that veteran actor Olu Jacobs had been announced dead. In August 2022, Olu Jacobs was reported dead but his wife yet again did the needful and debunked the reports of her husbands passing.

She wrote, “Good day everyone, trust all is going well. The Jacobs Clan would love to inform you that Papa J (Olu Jacobs MFR), is alive and well; enjoying himself as always in the comfort of his home and loved ones.”

Betty Irabor, a Nigerianwriter also dismissed the reports that were spreading like wild fire on her social media accounts noting that, “Olu Jacobs is well and alive and pleaded to the public to ignore the reports that were being passed on.

Born on July 11, 1942, Jacobs, 82, was a highly acclaimed Nigerian actor and film executive, widely regarded as one of the most talented and influential African actors of his time.

With over 40 years experience in acting under his belt, Olu Jacobs is highly considered as a bridge between the old and fresh breed of actors in Nollywood. He attained acting knowledge through training he conducted at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, England and remains of of Africa’s finest and creative gifts to the world having worked on different projects in Britain and starring in some international movies.
