Bobi Wine criticizes arrest and detention of former RCC Anderson Burora

Anderson Burora in jail
Presidnet of Nation Unity Platform (NUP) Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has strongly criticized the arrest and detention of former Lubaga Division Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Anderson Burora.
Bobi Wine spoke up against Burora’s detention after Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayiizi sent him on remand to Luzira on Wednesday 3rd of July on charge sheet for spread of malicious information and hate speech.
Burora will return to court for his case hearing and bail application on Tuesday 9th of July after he pleaded not guilty of both charges that were slapped against him.
Taking to X (Formerly Twitter) Bobi Wine wrote condemning the arrest of Burora stressing that his arrest is an act of witch-hunt and persecution of individuals who speak out against corruption and misrule – especially the speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among.
This is after Burora openly pinned Anita Annet Among of corruption and misuse of her office based on the sanctions that were slapped against her by USA and Britan.
Buroro was arrested on Monday night and got drove to Kira Division Police where he spent the night. On Tuesday, he was transferred to CPS in Kampala and Wednesday was arraigned before Buganda Road Court where he was sent on remand to Luzira.
Below is Bobi Wine’s full statement condemning RCC Burora’s arrest and detention.
“For speaking out against Anita Among’s corruption, former Assistant RCC Burora Anderson was arrested and detained. He was eventually remanded on the basis of an evidently defective charge sheet! I join other citizens of good conscience in condemning the witch-hunt and persecution of those who speak out against corruption and misrule – especially about Anita Among.  Burora’s current woes should send a clear message to all that there are no safe zones in a sinking boat! A while ago as Assistant Resident City Commissioner, he justified and defended many of the excesses of the regime and turned those of us trying to change things into a punching bag. Hopefully through this, Mr. Burora will agree with us that such blatant abuse of the law will only come to an end when Uganda frees itself from the Museveni regime!”, Bobi Wine statement read
