Maurice Kirya praises artists for trying to improve the music industry

Singer and actor Maurice Kirya has praised artists from the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) and Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) for their efforts in trying to improve the music industry.

He acknowledged their achievements in requesting the implementation and amendment of the copyright law and enforcement.

He noted that though he might have some issues and disagreements with how things are being run but he is impressed that they took a bold step in fighting for what benefit all creatives across the country. 

Kirya also clarified his absence during the UMA elections due to COVID-19 restrictions and the voting phase being aborted due to electoral malpractice.

He also criticized them for their lack of knowledge and expertise while handling some issues which he believe that had they been handled well, many issues would have been accomplished by now.

“There are things they are doing that are commendable and there are things that I would disagree with. Somebody being popular doesn’t mean they can do the job, there’s a big difference between being popular and being knowledgeable”, Maurice Kirya noted during an interview on NTV THEBEAT Show.
