Africa’s wealthiest man and chairman of the Dangote group of companies, Aliko Dangote, has expressed his disappointment in the Nigerian oil regulator after what he termed as sabotage of his newly established oil refinery.

During a news presser, Dangote revealed that the state did not offer him any incentive to establish his refinery and they had to pay 100 million dollars for the land where it was built.

The refinery which has created thousands of jobs for Nigerian youths, has faced many challenges including stiff competition from imported oil products that are supposed to be manufactured within Nigeria .

According to the Billionaire, Africa should be self-reliant and he aims to ensure that they reach the goal through investing in multiple industries and different sectors.

” In the refinery, we did not and I repeat we did not receive one single incentive from the federal government of Nigeria even from the state of Lagos. I thought building a refinery like this, is supposed to be the pride for everybody because we are not the only country trying to do this. Angola has been trying and they are still trying. Uganda has tried for the last twenty years none of them has done it. There is no production capacity in Africa, only two countries are not importing which are Algeria and Libya. Apart from these, everybody is an importer, we can not continue to be slaves while we export raw materials and then import.” Aliko Dangote stated

” But you can see that the regulator is giving an excuse to continue to issue licenses for bad products for importers because they don’t want to create a monopoly. Furthermore, the country is still importing bad fuel which is causing most of the vehicles to get damaged,”  he said

” The mafia oil is bigger than the mafia in drugs, I fear them so much,” Aliko Dangote stated.
