A Pass, a Ugandan artist, criticized the push for amending the copyright law as a “foolish” move for artists in the industry.
He explained that if he calculates the money earned from copyright and loyalty, it is just a small portion that an artist would ever get.
He adds that even artists whose music is featured in movies earn just pennies from their craft compared to artists who garner huge numbers of streams and those who hold shows.
A Pass has since called upon artists to fight for their freedom to be able to hold shows saying it is one of the ways artists earn big world over.
A Pass calls for artists to be free to hold shows without political affiliations so that artists can benefit from their music.
He opened up about his view on fellow artists’ request to have the copyright law amended.
The “Chupa Ku Chupa” singer went ahead to claim how he has no comment concerning singer Eddy Kenzo’s recent appointment as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Creatives saying he is not bothered by the artist’s visit to State House In Entebbe.
He only wishes that they could help streamline the music industry so that everybody is free to work and earn as they deserve.
