The president of the opposition political party the National Unity Platform Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine has today afternoon been discharged from St Francis Nsambya Hospital where he has been receiving treatment.
Bobi Wine and his team sustained injuries yesterday on their way back to Kampala from a Thanksgiving party of Mr.George Musisi the party lawyer.
According to some eyewitnesses who were at the scene, a teargas canister was fired by a team of police officers which burst, and some of its fragments injured the party president.
He was hurriedly picked up by his security and immediately rushed to a nearby clinic for first aid and later transported to Kampala for further cross-examination.
” Yesterday our party president was from a thanksgiving ceremony of one of our lawyers George Musisi in Kiira municipality. The engaged them resulting into an altercation where a teargas cannister was fired at him. We don’t know why the security forces use teargas cannisters to harm our leaders.
After the surgery to remove the fragments , Mr. Bobi Wine requested to shift to his home since the security situation had become more worrying.” Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi stated.
To add to that , Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi believes that the incident was intentional and not an accident as the Uganda Police claims.
This was because there have been many attempts threatening the life of Bobi Wine since he embarked his a political career.
Bobi Wine the NUP party president was the second runners up in the just concluded presidential elections in Uganda.
