Hon. Lilian Aber, the State Minister for Disaster Preparedness, Relief, and Refugees, is trending on X following the exchange of exciting messages with rapper Fik Fameica.
This is after she came out and disclosed that she was planning taking the Fresh Gang rapper to a dinner date.
Hon. Lillian Aber, however, Just when we thought things couldn’t get spicier between the two, tweeted saying she was only joking.
Hon. Lillian Aber also noted that saying she would take rapper Fik Fameica out for a date didn’t know that it would go viral as it has done.
“A joke about taking @FIKFAMElCA for dinner attracts 3.9K likes and online newspapers writing all versions,😂 but, an update on community engagement attracts only 563 likes. Hehehe, Social Media. People enjoy ‘Lugambo’ vibes more as opposed to informative stories. Anyway, @FIKFAMElCA is my young brother, and I call upon our countrymen and women to support his career in the music industry. All our young artists should know that they have our support as leaders and absolute commitment toward making the music industry better for them. The world will agree that Uganda has got unimaginable talent across all the creative arts.”, Aber wrote on her X
Despite this clarification, many Ugandans are still glued to the unfolding drama, with some questioning whether the “joke” was simply a playful dodge after the original post blew up beyond expectations.
With over 3.9K likes, it’s clear that Aber’s lighthearted “dinner date” suggestion hit a chord, much more than her updates on community work, which barely managed a fraction of the engagement.
As expected, social media couldn’t resist comparing the two posts, with Aber herself pointing out how much more people love a good dose of “Lugambo” (gossip) over the serious stuff. And honestly, who can blame them? Uganda’s latest fusion of politics and entertainment has been nothing short of captivating!
Even though she’s clarified that Fik Fameica is “like a young brother” to her, and urged support for his career, many are still hooked on the potential of the earlier tweet.
It doesn’t help that Uganda has been witnessing a growing number of celebrity-political bonds, with stars like Eddy Kenzo tying the knot with Minister Phiona Nyamutoro, fueling interest in these dynamic crossovers.
