Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has dispensed two firefighting trucks to the Uganda Police as a boost to the force to aid them in situations where the need arises.
The two fire trucks were handed to the Director of Fire Services, AIGP Joseph Mugisa, by the Kampala Capital City Authority Executive Director, Dorothy Kisaka on Thursday.
Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading. The handover took place at KCCA head offices in Kampala where Dorothy Kisaka stressed that she loves seeing Police work hand-in-hand with KCCA to curb the rampant fire outbreaks that are always reported within Kampala.
The donation is also a move to have a better and smarter city whereby in case of any firebreak, Police swing in swiftly before properties are damaged to rescue the owners and lives of individuals.
“We have donated fire trucks to @PoliceUg to enhance their capacity as experts in fire and rescue services because we recognize the immediate need to support them in their crucial role.”@KCCAED said while handing over 2 fire trucks today #ForABetterCity.
Just hours after the two fire truck fighters were handed over, fire gutted an eatery Cafe Bravo at Uganda House in the heart of Kampala on Friday at 5 am, leaving properties worth millions of shillings damaged.
Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading. When the Police swung in, they managed to shut down the fire as they stopped it from spreading to other parts of the building.
Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were registered on the incident and as you this this, the Police are carrying out investigations to determine what could have been the root cause of the fire outbreak.
