The families, relatives, and friends of the Buganda Royal Institute students who perished in a motor accident are mourning the untimely demise of their loved ones.
A total of six students are reported to have breathed their last on Saturday evening as they were traveling in a small Black Toyota Ractis to a beach party in Musinde, Garuga Road, Katabi town council, in Entebbe.
Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading. According to eyewitnesses, the car was overspeeding when the driver fully lost control and balance on the road. He crashed knocking other vehicles parked at the roadside.
Four of the occupants including the driver, Jauhara Ssempebwa, Ssentongo Hassan, Mayanja Joseph, and Taremwa Kevin died on the spot. In contrast, the other two occupants passed away after being transferred to Kisubi Hospital for medical attention.
The Buganda Royal Institute Students who passed away are said to have been course-mates and were due to graduate the same year. The party they were traveling to had been organized by one of their friend who called them to attend.

Based on the recently published traffic accident report, 432 accidents were recorded, 97 being fatal, 202 were serious and 133 were minor. However, of the 432 victims, 100 lost their lives and 332 got injuries. The major causes of the accidents in the country have been attributed to various factors, including:

-Drug abuse including under the influence of alcohol.

-Adhere to the given speed limit on all roads.
-Exercise caution and patience while overtaking another vehicle.
