For years, the Kabaka birthday run has been one of the most prominent sports with thousands of participants running for a cause. The sport has been consistently growing in numbers annually, from hundreds to thousands of participants.
However, for the second time in a row, King (Kabaka) Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II was absent from the occasion. According to the kingdom Prime Minister (Katikiro) Charles Peter Mayiiga, the king left the country on the 21st of March to seek further specialized medical attention from specialists abroad.
The king is suffering from undisclosed health complications. Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II delegated Nalinya Lubugu Agnes to flag off the runners in his absence which usually takes place at his palace at Mengo, Kampala.
Through the Katikiro, the Kabaka thanked all the stakeholders from the central government, sponsors, and well-wishers for being part of the Kabaka birthday run in the effort to fight against HIV\AIDs in the country.
