Bobi Wine’s fashion designer Latif Madoi arrested by security

National Unity Platform (NUP) President, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine’s fashion designer Latif Madoi, the founder of Latif Fashion School, and four of his fashion students were arrested when the military and police raided their office in Kawanda.

The other students who were arrested along with Latif Madoi were identified as Roger, Jose (Mwavu takwana), Shaban, and another unknown student.

Based on Latif Madoi’s son, who was the eyewitness during the arrest, disclosed that the security men took away many belongings from the fashion school including, five sewing machines, material fabric, and finished clothing. 

According to Bobi Wine, the arrest of Latif Madoi and his four other colleagues was done by the regime whose move is to crack the wipe on the freedom of expression through fashion because it is powerful and speaks louder.

“Yesterday, among other places, the military and police raided Latif Fashion School in Kawanda and arrested its founder, the award-winning designer Latif Madoi, and four students identified as Roger, Jose (Mwavu takwana), Shaban, and another unknown student. According to his son, they took away many belongings including five sewing machines, material fabric, and finished clothing. The shameless regime is cracking down on freedom of expression through fashion because it’s so powerful and it speaks so loudly. We will defy any illegal attacks on our rights and freedoms to freely express ourselves through fashion. I publicly wear the overall that he made for me, why should he be in jail for making it?”, NUP President, Bobi Wine

This week, several NUP supporters have been arrested, including Makindye East MP, Derrick Nyeko, whose house was raided on Monday by both the military and Police. He is detained on charges of being found with outfits replica of security outfits.
