Awebwa is not the first TikToker to face such charges, as we saw at the start of the year when TikToker Pressure 24/7 was remanded for offensive communication after he was arrested for spreading hate speech toward the President and the Kabaka of Buganda among other respected people.

Tik Toker’s MC Chumi, and Teddy Nalubowa faced similar incidents in the past and each served their sentence with the latter being detained for celebrating the passing of the late Gen. Elly Tumwine in 2022.

Lately, several TikToker’s are battling with charges of offensive communication and Computer Misuse following their continued use of abusive language and insulting government officials.
