Former Deputy RCC Anderson Burora Sent Back To Luzira Prison For A Week

Former  Lubaga Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Herbert Anderson Burora has been sent back to Luzira Prison for a week as court yet again delayed his bail ruling due to the trial magistrate’s absence.

He is scheduled to return to court on Friday 25th  of July for the updates on the authenticity of his sureties.

Burora faces charges lived against him created to hate speech and spreading of malicious information against the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anite Annita Among.

It should be recalled that he was arrested on Monday 1st July when security personnel stormed his house in the night.

On Wednesday 3rd of July, he was arraigned before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayiizi, who read him charges he committed that included spreading hate speech and malicious information accusations that go against the Computer Misuse Act.

During the court hearing, Herbert Anderson Burora denied both charges.

The Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Kayiizi then sent him to Luzira prison until Tuesday 9th of July for his next court hearing as he will be applying for bail.

When the day of his case hearing reached, he was sent back and as court scheduled a different of his ruling following a charge sheet that had other staff.

National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine criticized Burora’s arrest saying it was an his arrest is an act of witch-hunt and persecution of individuals who speak out against corruption and misrule – especially the speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among.

“For speaking out against Anita Among’s corruption, former Assistant RCC Burora Anderson was arrested and detained. He was eventually remanded on the basis of an evidently defective charge sheet! I join other citizens of good conscience in condemning the witch-hunt and persecution of those who speak out against corruption and misrule – especially about Anita Among.  Burora’s current woes should send a clear message to all that there are no safe zones in a sinking boat! A while ago as Assistant Resident City Commissioner, he justified and defended many of the excesses of the regime and turned those of us trying to change things into a punching bag. Hopefully through this, Mr. Burora will agree with us that such blatant abuse of the law will only come to an end when Uganda frees itself from the Museveni regime!”, Bobi Wine statement read
