Azawi describes Parliament as a ”laughing stock”

Azawi, a Swangz Avenue Singer, Songwriter, and Recording artist has labeled Parliament (Uganda’s August House) as a ”laughing stock” as she compared it to other developing countries.

The “Quinnamino” singer made a comparison during her appearance on Capital FM’s weekly political show “The Capital Gang” where she had been hosted to share her views regarding how the nation is running.

She narrated that the Parliamentarians are at a stage where they can organize an event and invite Ugandans to turn up watch them and laugh.

Azawi made this statement following the corruption saga in parliament and the politicians especially those in the ruling party doing nothing about it.

Last month, Ugandans came out and protested against corruption asking some people like the speaker of parliament to resign.

Azawi was one of the people who raised her voice through social media platforms.

Unfortunately, the protest wasn’t successful as those who tried to participate in it ended up in prison.

Despite this, different Ugandans have added their voice to those who protested except the celebrities.

Instead of supporting them, celebrities went mute. The few who supported were branding politicians by their colleagues.

According to Azawi, not everyone who adds their voice to the ongoing political problems is a politician.

As a citizen, everyone is concerned with whatever the government does.

“I feel like the August house is a laughing stock. They should organize an event to make us laugh. First of all, I don’t know why people think when you add your voice to a social cause you become a politician. It is our responsibility,” she said.
