12 signatures left to hit the motion seeking to impeach Mpuuga, other commissioners over ‘service award’

The motion seeking to censure Hon. Mathiaus Mpuuga Nsamba, and the other three NRM Commissioners of Parliament has drawn closer to completion.

Fresh updates from Hon. Theodore Ssekikubo (Lwemiyaga County) who led the move of the motion calling for the removal of the four Commissioners from their position has now reached 164 signatures.

This implies that only 12 signatures are remaining to hit the the required number of 176 to have the motion tabled on the Floor of Parliament.

The embattled Commissioners include; Esther Afoyochan (Zombo DWR), Prossy Akampulira (Rubanda DWR), Solomon Silwany (Bukooli Central) and Mathias Mpuuga (Nyendo-Mukungwe) who are reported to have shared among themselves Shs 1.7 billion.

The three NRM Commissioners are reported to have shared among themselves Shs400m each while Hon. Mpuuga pocketed Shs5ooM and above.

Hon. Ssekikubo and his team of other five MPs including Hon. Nsamba Patrick, Hon. Joseph Ssewungu, and Hon. Yorke Alion (Aringa South) is confident that maybe by the end of next week, he could be done with collecting the signatures to have the commissioners impeached from their roles.

“On our list we are coming up with 164 signatures. The 164 signatures are the ones we have in our possession”, Ssekikubo.

He added that move was amplified because the President came out and said he is ready to take to which Ssekikubo notes that when Parliament goes down, the nation also goes down.

This is a move that has been ongoing for some few weeks now and it has had its ups and down but the team seeking to impeach the commissioners has been firm and stood its ground to see that the mission goes on until it will be complete.

NRM MPs were also seen appending their signatures like Hon. Pius Wakabi Rujumba (Bugahya County) saying he joined the fight against corruption because the President came out to reveal that he is willing to take action against fighting the vice in government.

He noted how in the past, the President has always been talking and preaching about corruption something that he believes needs some action so that the individuals involved in it can stop taking part in it to have the taxpayers money used in the rightful way.

“I’m here to sign because this time I’m supporting the president because this time he has come out to bite. All the time he has been talking talking and preaching about corruption but this time he has taken action. As members of Parliament we need to come out and support him in this fight against corruption and government”, Hon. Pius Wakabi said after penning his signature.
