Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi vows to fight corruption despite frustration

The battle against corruption has gained more momentum as the Leader of the Opposition Hon.Joel Ssenyonyi vowed to continue with the fight against corruption especially in the Parliament. This comes as a result of the speaker denying them an opportunity to table the long-awaited censure motion for the parliamentary commissioners.

While in Canada at the NUP convention, Hon Joel Ssenyonyi reviewed events regarding the alleged corruption in the Parliament citing misuse of public funds and leaders awarding themselves, which should be condemned as immorality.

According to Hon Joel Ssenyonyi, the court that termed the service award given to the four parliament commissioners legal did not favor them because the same court passed a judgment blaming the parliamentary Clark for considering and acknowledging to put whatever was discussed into immediate effect.

” The same court that termed the service award legal, is the court which has gone ahead to blame the parliament Clark for ensuring that the decisions from the meeting were considered and acknowledged with immediate effect. Before I became the leader of the opposition, I asked my brother Hon. Mathius Mpuuga, If another LOP would also be a beneficially of the service award. However, he declined and clarified that another LOP would have to negotiate their pay.” Hon . Joel Ssenyonyi stated.

In the presser, he expressed his condolences to the family late Tamale Mirundi, a former political analyst who succumbed to lung complications and other health-related conditions.

” Tamale has been a great friend and very knowledgeable. We would visit him in the hospital but he would also turn against us sometimes during his political shows,” he remarked.
