Over the past couple of weeks, Uganda’s speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among has been under fire with several individuals calling for her resignation from the office that she is currently holding.
The reason behind her quest to resign stems from corruption allegations that they say she has influenced ever since she took office.
Following the fact that the calls for her resignation have been widely spread, over the weekend, she took time to address the critics who want to see her leave office.
She did so by scoffing at her critics when she asked those who want her out of office by not that if she resigns, where next should she be going. She then assured the critics that she is still around.
“You will move around trying to destroy the country and saying Anita must resign. Resign and go where? I am still around”, Anita Annet Among.

She also mentioned the ongoing #March2Parliament protests that happened last week saying the protests were being backed by people who have different opinions about the country.
“You see the demonstrations that are in town now, they are demonstrating because they are self-seekers. These are people who do not want us to respect our values. As Ugandans and members of parliament, we stand by the decision we made”, Speaker of Parliament Hon. Anita Among stated.
She added that she only has one term to serve and after she will leave office for her deputy Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa.
She made the statements while at St. Karoli Lwanga Catholic Parish in Bitereko, Mitooma District, during Mzee Daudi Bangirana and Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa’s Thanksgiving.
