FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers | Uganda Cranes Records 1-0 Win Over Botswana Zebras

Muhammad Shaban and Omedi celebrating goal over Botswana
Uganda Cranes striker Muhammed Shaban Jagason came off the bench to score the only goal that helped Uganda secure a 1-0 victory over Bostwana Zebras in their Group G game of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers played at Namboole National Stadium on Friday evening.
Muhammad Shaban, the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) striker, who was introduced into the game in the 65th minute tapped in a well-laid cross-off substitute Denis Omedi giving the Cranes the lead in the 74th minute sending the fans who had turned out for the game in a frenzy.
Before the goal came, St. Mirren’s right-back Elvis Bwomono missed two clear chances one in the 11th minute and the other in the 22nd minute when he rebounded wild and wide a direct shot from 30 yards.
The Cranes dominated the game from the onset and the Botswana Zebras were fortunate to end the first half with a Nil-Nil stallment.
Botswana’s duo Gilbert Baruti and Kabelo Seakanyeng also put up some threats when they tested the Cranes’ defense which was led by debutant Elio Capredosso though they didn’t yield any positive out of the two occasions.
