President Museveni pledges 200 million for Bataka ( clan heads)

The president of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged to support Buganda Kingdom clan heads (Bataka) sacco with a boost of 200 million shillings.

This was after a second meeting with the president at the state house Entebbe. Owek Joice Nabbosa Ssebugwawo led the Buganda kingdom delegation. Joice Nabbosa Ssebugwawo also a state minister for ICT   requested that the president help them to seek access for the clan heads to visit the Kabaka (king) currently out of the country.

It is reported that the Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi is in Namibia receiving specialized treatment after suffering from an undisclosed illness.

The Bataka(clan head) have for a long time made several requests to the president including buying them land to construct a Buganda museum and building them a private office away from Mengo.

“No one can stop us or discourage us from accessing the president’s office. Even those who talk ill about us go to the same office! The president is the only person left in the country who can help us,” Owek Joice Nabbosa Ssebugwawo furiously claimed during a presser after meeting the president.

The president thanked the Buganda Kingdom delegation for their willingness to work with his government and promised to support the idea of the Bataka Sacco.

On the contrary, Buganda Kingdom has remained mute about the actions of the Bataka and has distanced itself from the leaders who went to the state house to meet the president.

Many of the kingdom subjects are not happy by the actions of the Bataka and termed them self-seekers.
