” For prizes, those who will win medals, the ministry under the national council for sports, under the directive of the first lady has provided 30 thousand US dollars for a gold medal, that is about 100million shillings, we also have 50 million for a silver medal, that is about 17 thousand US dollars and 30 million Ugandan shillings for a bronze medal. In this competition this money is ready” Hon. Peter Ogwang said.

The government of Uganda has been a major stakeholder in the sports sector for a long time including financing the sports budget and building infrastructure like the renovation of Mandera National Stadium commonly known as Namboole.
The government through the Ministry of Sports has also provided scholarships to the best athletes in the country like Moses Kiprotich, Docus Nzikuru, and many others.
However, it is still searching and naturing new talent to fill the gaps left behind by the senior athletes.
