Despite the ongoing confusion in the Forum For Democratic Change (FDC) political party, with two camps separated, the Najjanakumbi president Patrick Amuriat Oboi has come out to recognize the Katonga Road side as the ”original and real” FDC party.
He made the revelation as he spoke in an interview as he was addressing the media when they asked him to weigh in on some discussions and he dropped the bomb.
The reality is that we have got one FDC. That FDC resides in Katonga. Patrick Amuriat stated while speaking to reporters.
Patrick Oboi Amuriat also went on to urge Dr. Kizza Besigye the founding President of FDC and Katonga-based faction against the use of violent action in an attempt to seize control of the party leadership.

Dr. Kiza Besigye, the founding President of FDC, and the Katonga-based faction should resist against resorting to violent methods to seize control of the party leadership., He added
His request follows the recent comments he made when he threatened to legally drag Dr. Kizza Besigye to courts of law accusing him of using the party symbol and property without authorization from the Najjanakumbi-based faction.
This was after Dr. Kizza Besigye embarked on a nationwide tour carrying out consultative meetings and rallies on whether he should return and contest against President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the 2026 general elections.
In the 2021 general elections, Patrick Amuriat Oboi contested for the Presidency of Uganda on the FDC card before they split into two camps and finished third in the race behind NUP president Bobi Wine and H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. However, trouble befell their party when sources disclosed that they had been infiltrated by NRM since some members of the party had been given a heavy sum of money to carry out political campaigns without countability.
