Singer Daudi Mugema has pleaded for financial support to travel overseas for improved treatment for his foot cancer.
He previously traveled to Istanbul, Turkey for free treatment, but the woman who promised to help him get into contact with an organization that would help him get an all-expense paid treatment turned out to be a scam when she foxed on the promise she had made to the ailing singer.
The ” Katonda Wa’banaku” singer explained that the initial plan he had with the Kampala City Lord Mayor, Eria Lukwago was to move him to Nairobi, Agakhan Hospital in Kenya.
Somehow, a lady who pretended to be a well-wisher landed on his contact and gave him a call promising that he would help him get specialized treatment from an international hospital free of charge.
Speaking in an interview, he noted that he returned to Erias Lukwago and talked through the whole process. However, Eria Lukwago saw the deal would be fishy and asked the woman how she would benefit from the service she was offering for free.
She then opened up stating that she had a relative who had been denied a visa to travel to Turkey to work and she suggested that her relative act as Daudi Mugema’s wife so that she could get a visa and travel too.
When the visas were acquired, the woman sent them fake air tickets and as Daudi Mugema was scrolling through his TikTok account, she saw the lady in a clip on a flight and immediately called the other in Turkey asking to know whether she had sent them other air tickets.
He was only told that the lady he had gone with to acquire visas couldn’t wait for him as she had her money and bought her ticket and traveled as she convinced him to wait until the organization got him an air ticket.
When the Lord Mayor, Mr. Lukwago talked to the lady about whether the hospital was ready to receive Daudi Mugema, she boldly confirmed that it was a yes and bought him an air ticket and traveled as well.
On arrival in Istanbul, Turkey, the woman switched off her phones and Daudi Mugema found himself stranded not until he was helped by another lady who took good care of him and checked him into different hospitals for treatment.
However, the doctors came up with a report saying they were not seeing any illness in his foot but gave him some medication to use in the meantime.
Mugema was thus advised to travel to India, Canada, and America. He is now seeking USD 3,000 for treatment and travel.
