It was a moment of delight at the National Unity Platform (NUP) Party headquarters in Makerere-Kavule as supporters of the political party welcomed new members from various political parties, including former Masaka District LC5 chairperson Jude Mbabaali.

Some of the new entrants in the party dropped their NRM and FDC cards for NUP membership. Among the items that the new members dropped included yellow T-shirts and shoes plus other belongings of their former political parties.

In the early 2000s, he served as the Democratic Party (DP) Spokesperson and became popular among Ugandans for serving loyally to Dr. Kawanga Ssemwogere, who served as DP President general.

Jude Mbabaali accepted his card from NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine. He brings to the party a lot of political experience and wealth plus honesty since he has been an honest man from way back who sticks to his word.

At our headquarters today, we welcomed into @NUP_Ug hundreds of new members coming from the four regions of Uganda. In my message to them, I reminded the new members that they have joined not just another political party but, rather, a movement on a mission to freedom. This is a REVOLUTION. I also used the opportunity to emphasize that the problems prevailing in Uganda today including those of political prisoners and the unfair taxation system are all a result of the bad governance perpetuated by dictator Museveni’s long stay in power. That is why our priority first and foremost must be on ridding our nation of the dictatorship to establish a free, prosperous, and democratic country.

It should be recalled in the 2021 general elections, Jude Mbabaali contested for Masaka City’s Kimanya-Kabonera seat on a DP ticket but things did not go smoothly on his side. In the race of seven participants, he finished fourth garnering 668 votes.

Hon. Abed Bwanika won the contest on the NUP ticket being backed by NUP President H.E Bobi Wine.
