Devastating news has engulfed the house and family of the late Dr. Martin Jerome Okec Aliker, a Uganda dental surgeon, businessman, entrepreneur, and community leader following his untimely demise.
The family confirmed his passing on Monday though the cause of his passing has not yet been established as we wait for more details to come through. He breathed his last at Nakasero Hospital.
He served as a senior adviser to the President of Uganda and sat on the boards of directors of nearly forty Ugandan companies.
As of October 2014, Dr. Martin Jerome Okec Aliker was a shareholder in many publicly traded companies including Stanbic Bank Uganda, Coca-Cola, Uganda Breweries, Standard Chartered Bank, and Nation Media Group among others.

He has been sitting on boards of many of these companies and acted as the chairman of Uganda Clays Limited. As a former Chairperson of Monitor Publications Limited (MPL), Dr. Aliker is credited with overseeing the merger between the Monitor and Nation Media Group (NMG).
Dr. Aliker died at the age of 95. He was born in Gulu District on October 21st, 1928 to Rwot Lacito Okech and Juliana Auma. His journey toward living a successful life started at a very tender age.
He went to Gulu High School and later joined King’s College Budo where he excelled pretty well and scored only good grades. His academic excellence earned him different scholarships from prestige Universities including Makerere. He later on earned scholarships in studies in political science at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, United States.
