Ugandan music duo Ugaboy (Ugaboy Zee and Ugaboy Coin) has criticized the local music industry for not producing certified songwriters since the death of singer and songwriter Mowzey Radio.

The pair claimed that most of the songwriters lack quality, need urgent help, and should be written for instead of writing for others.

Ugaboy also suggested that award organizers should disband the category of “Best Songwriter” while hosting awards and urged any songwriter who has ever won any award under that category to return it to the organizers.

The duo paid respect to Mowzey Radio, stating that his music composition was great adding his legacy will live on forever.

“Many songwriters feed on us. Sometimes they contact us asking whether we buy songs and when we listen to their content, we find that we are the ones who are supposed to be selling songs to them. All these songwriters you see bragging need help. They should be written for. They need urgent help and they should stop this thing of entitlement. We have no certified writers here. No one”, the Ugaboy duo stated during an interview on a local television recently.

This is not the first time the pair have appeared in interviews throwing shade at fellow artists in the music industry. They once accused Daddy Andre of chasing them out of his studio when they were still uprising stars before they earned their breakthrough song titled “Salary”.

The duo recently commented about how the music industry is full of racism amongst promoters noting that some create barriers for others not to cross from one nation to another.
